The Air Jordan 4 was designed by Tinker Hatfield and first released in 1989, becoming the first Jordan model to achieve a global release. Its mesh side panels, plastic support wings, and visible heel Air unit made it one of the most technically advanced basketball shoes of its era. The Military Blue was one of the four original colourways released in 1989, alongside the White Cement, Fire Red, and Bred. It has since been retroed in 2006 and 2012, with the 2024 edition marking the most faithful reissue to the original specifications.
The Military Blue colourway is one of the four original 1989 Air Jordan 4 colour schemes. An off-white leather upper sits alongside neutral grey nubuck overlays on the forefoot, while military blue accents appear on the molded eyelets, heel tab, midsole detailing, and Jumpman tongue branding. The 2024 edition is the most faithful reissue to date, featuring Nike Air branding on the heel for the first time since the original 1989 release. The 2006 and 2012 retros used the Jumpman logo instead. The 2024 version also uses the updated Air Jordan 4 mold for improved proportions and fit.
When Jordan Brand officially previewed the 2024 release, they referred to the colourway as "Industrial Blue" rather than "Military Blue." However, the box label still reads "Military Blue." Both names refer to the same colourway and the sneaker community continues to use Military Blue as the primary name.
We recommend using a soft brush or damp cloth with mild soap to clean the leather upper. For the off-white panels, a dedicated sneaker cleaner helps remove scuffs and maintain the clean base colour. Avoid soaking or machine washing, and allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat.
