The ASICS Gel-1130 takes its shape from the ninth model in the Gel-1000 series and draws its overlay construction and Tiger Stripe panelling from the Gel-Kayano 14. It was pulled back as a lifestyle model during the technical running revival and quickly became one of the most widely worn shoes in the category. It now sits alongside the Gel-NYC and Gel-Kayano 14 as a core part of the ASICS retro line.
The Piedmont Grey/Midnight colourway sets a pale grey mesh base under layered synthetic overlays in a muted teal blue, wrapping the toe, midfoot and heel counter with a patent finish that catches the light. Deep midnight navy runs through the eyestay, collar trim and heel panelling, with a subtle marbled navy detail at the toe overlay. Silver Tiger Stripes cross both side panels, and a navy midsole sits above a black and grey outsole.
GEL cushioning in the heel for dependable impact protection. Breathable mesh upper layered with synthetic overlays at the toe, midfoot and heel for structure. Patent-finish overlays with silver Tiger Stripe panelling. Durable rubber outsole for confident multi-surface traction. Padded collar and tongue for a secure, comfortable fit.

The Piedmont Grey/Midnight Gel-1130 suits anyone who wants the retro runner shape with some colour without going loud. The teal and navy combination reads more considered than a plain black or white pair while staying easy to place in an existing wardrobe. GEL cushioning also makes it comfortable enough for long days on foot rather than occasional wear.
The Piedmont Grey/Midnight sits in the cool range, so it works with navy, charcoal and grey layering or washed indigo denim rather than warm earth tones. The teal overlays give it more character than a plain grey runner without pulling attention, and the darker base holds up better than pale colourways through winter.
The Gel-1130 sits alongside the Gel-Kayano 14, Gel-NYC and New Balance 860 in the retro technical running category. Compared to the Gel-Kayano 14, the 1130 runs slightly slimmer with a lower stack, making it the easier of the two to wear with tapered trousers. Against the Black Glacier Grey execution, this one brings noticeably more colour through the teal overlays and patent detailing, so it works better as the focal point of an outfit than as a background shoe.
Yes, the Gel-1130 runs true to size. We recommend ordering your usual UK size. The mesh upper provides a comfortable fit without being too tight or too loose.
GEL is ASICS' cushioning technology, using a silicone-based gel unit in the heel to absorb impact and reduce shock through the foot. It keeps the shoe comfortable for all-day wear despite the retro construction.
This is a unisex colourway stocked in UK 7 to UK 11, which covers standard men's sizing. Choose based on your usual UK size rather than gender, as the fit is the same across the range.
We recommend spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild soap, taking care around the patent overlays which scuff more readily than the mesh. Avoid the washing machine as this can damage the layered construction. Air dry naturally away from direct heat.
